Our Experience
Over the last 10 years the Dr. Taps team have visited countless properties and worked on almost every Plumbing issue that can arise in a domestic property. Taps, traps, toilets and showers are always going wrong and we can repair or replace on request, one such job is the replacement of thermostatic shower cartridges which are a moving part and prone to failure. Another thing we are asked for a lot is to renew the silicone and/or grouting in a bathroom, we use high quality materials and the work usually takes between 2-3 hours. Radiator problems are common call-outs, particularly over the winter, however central heating/hot water issues can also be caused in a variety of places; faulty pumps or two/three port valves are a regular occurrence, sometimes there is a fault with the heating thermostat or other controls or perhaps at the cylinder itself if one is present. Alongside this we also encounter a lot of leak discovery/repair and are fairly often called on to install washing machines/dishwashers when the delivery (+ install) company reach a slight complication and leave you with an unconnected machine.

Gas work forms a large part of our experience; 10 years worth of Gas Safety Checks means 10 years worth of different gas meters and over 6,968 minutes staring at a manometer . It also means 10 years worth of different gas boilers, covering all the major manufacturers and models; we are experienced at diagnosing issues and can repair/replace parts where necessary to get your boiler working again. We also install new gas boilers, service/install gas hobs and service/install gas fireplaces although they aren't so common these days. We will attend to gas leaks and can trace and repair the pipework to get your system working again. It is always important to note that with gas work we are confined within the 'The Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998' which obligates us to be on the look out for 'dangerous' situations and take action when necessary. We can also advise/install new CO/smoke alarms which are essential for a safe domestic environment.
Changing this pump meant removing everything from the bottom half of the boiler!
Our engineer diligently removed every single lower component and one of the supply pipes, then was finally able to remove the pump.
Every part then had to be reinstalled with their own new o-rings and a lot of grease.
The job had been refused by a previous engineer and so the boiler had been out of action for some time, needless to say the tenant was pleased.
Domestic Boiler Install - Streatham
We removed an old Worcester Bosch Combi boiler and installed a new Ideal Esprit Eco2 with a new magnetic filter and external filling loop. The process included a Gas Safety Check and corrosion inhibitor was added to futureproof the system. The work was completed within a day.
A radiator had not been secured well and fell off!
Our engineer was called to resolve the situation. Small channels were cut in the plaster wall, small batons were then installed in the channels and the radiator rehung onto the batons. The heating system was then fully reinstated.
We were tasked with recreating a tired bathroom
Our client wanted a brighter bathroom with minimal pipework hidden in the wall. Over a two week project we renewed the tiling and every fitting leaving the client very happy. Get in touch if you would like us to quote for a large project like this.
